What are some search tips ?

There are several tips for searching in filings.

  1. Case does not matter. So searching for Profits will give the same results as searching for profits.
  2. Individual words entered in the search box will be found anywhere in the document.
For example searching for record profits will find filings that contain the word record and the word profits.
  3. Quoted phrases entered in the search box will find the words occuring next to eachother.
For example searching for "record profits" will find only filings with the word record immediately followed by the word profits.
  4. Excluding items from a search can be done with the minus sign ("-"). For example if you want to find filings with the phrase "bird flu", but not in general disclaimers with other events like an earthquake you can use the search "bird flu" -earthquake.
  5. Additional search criteria can be used to narrow the scope of a search. For example form:10-Q will show only results including filing type of form 10-Q. Another example is ticker:adbe will only show results including filings related to the company with ticker:adbe (Adobe Systems, Inc.).
